Izkia Siches already seems to be an omnipresent figure for La Moneda. Yesterday, when reviewing the national press, they found the Data Influence survey, which shows the president of the Medical College as the face of this health crisis with the greatest political future. And when looking at the international press, they found a highly flattering profile for the doctor – and absolutely negative for the Piñera administration – in France Inter.
“On the front line: Izkia Siches, the young doctor who defies power in Chile”, is the title of the French public radio publication, where she is presented directly as the president of the Medical College and “who, before a government that has lost all credibility, it has become the voice of reference in the country, sometimes stronger than that of the Minister of Health ”.
The note describes her as a “gifted” in medicine and the communication stresses that she was “the first to alert the government to the dangers of the pandemic on television, radio, Facebook or Twitter. “It is ubiquitous,” says the report, referring to the doctor’s communication skills.
Siches is graphed as opposed to a government that “does not listen” and, in fact, the report indicates that “when questioning the authorities, it became the sounding board of a sector of society that saw the government practice a kind of Denialism (in the face of the magnitude of the pandemic) ”.
The note – which according to sources would not have gone down very well in the Palace – is part of a daily series of profiles that France Inter performs figures from the fight against COVID-19 in the world. A selection in which neither the Minister Mañalich nor the President Sebastián Piñera appear, despite the effort of both to make it appear that Chile is an example of the management of the pandemic for the rest of the planet.
