The athletes continue to work from home after the COVID-19 pandemic paralyzed 99% of football globally, but little by little the activity will resume. The first thing is to return to official training, for which, Conmebol gave the different countries a protocol to be applied and to be able to return to the field gradually. It will be a joint action between soccer clubs, health authorities and local governments.
Soccer will be one of the activities that will see the most the concept that has been coined as a “new normal” in order to begin to return little by little to routines, but with the severe care that must be taken because of the COVID-19 .
Almost all of the world’s leagues are paralyzed, including the Chilean one, with the players at home, quarantined and trained on their own, although always with the supervision and vigilance of the technical bodies.
That is why these practice sessions will be the first to return. To do this, Conmebol, the highest body in South American football, delivered an action protocol to the associations of the member countries.
“It is a medical recommendation plan for the return to training. We were going to publish it, but we considered it appropriate to send it to the FIFA doctors and we already had an online meeting regarding the position they can take”, Assured the Head of the Conmebol Medical Department, Osvaldo Pangrazio, to Ovation.
“You are going to work together to start communicating and hope to retrain because there are positive things we can learn from this pandemic: prevention“, Indicated.
It should be remembered that the return of football to the stadiums is still in a hazy and without clear deadlines. Some speak of July, while others are more lapidary and affirm that before October it will not be.
The other fundamental thing is that the fan will not be considered when the activity returns. Some scientists already say that soccer, like other massive activities, be they sports or cultural, will not be able to take place with face-to-face spectators, for a period that could last two years.
CONMEBOL PROTOCOL
- Sample collection devices can be mounted in the stadium’s medical center or training ground.
- Before training, each player will not be able to receive visits from unusual people in their homes.
- Use detectors and controls with guarantees and that are approved.
- Before a positive result or while awaiting the result, the person must perform 14-day isolation and receive the tests once the period has ended.
- Establish isolation at home or if a club facility is arranged to prevent contagion.
- Notify the health authorities of the geographic mobility of the affected person during the infectious period.
