The Government confirmed that 250 people residing in a city of Quilicura, where a Covid-19 outbreak was registered, will be transferred this Thursday to a health hotel.
Inhabitants of the place, mainly of Haitian nationality, they claimed to be afraid of leaving their homes, after receiving insults and attacks by residents of the sector.
Transferred by health personnel to a confinement hotel, 30 of the 250 residents have already left the clinic located on Calle San Luis, in Quilicura.
This Wednesday the priority was families with minors.
Crowded
Haitians, Dominicans and also Chileans live in overcrowded conditions, so last Tuesday, and by order of the Seremi de Salud, the closure was decided, after verifying a Covid-19 outbreak, which has spread -until now- 33 people.
The Mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Felipe Guevara, confirmed that all people will be evacuated from the city today, while the health seremi, Paula Labra, detailed that 250 PCR tests will be carried out, that is, one for each inhabitant of the place.
“That everyone leave this place, it is not enough that only those who tested positive do so, here there is a close relationship between people, therefore, everyone must be quarantined,” said the regional chief.
“The test has been taken on 55 people, therefore we are going to repeat those who have already taken it and all those who have not yet taken it, “said the metropolitan seremi.
They accuse assaults
The national director of Jesuit Migrant Service, José Tomás Vicuña, affirmed that the residents refused -initially- to leave the place, due to the acts of discrimination they have suffered.
Vicuña assured that neighbors stones have been thrown into the city.
The transfer of the residents has been carried out under the supervision of police personnel – both the PDI and the Carabineros – as well as members of the Army.
