Valve confirmed Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 code leak

The source code of video games Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 has been leaked, potentially potentially giving rise to new malware and cheating in both company multiplayer titles Valve.

The latter confirmed the leak, establishing that it is legitimate and includes code from the 2017 version of CS: Go. For its part, the Team Fortress 2 code is from the year 2011 and was contained within the Counter Strike code.

Valve is investigating the situation, but at the same time they stressed that this leak does not have to alert players. They also explained that the engine code had already been leaked in 2018, so it is not something new.

Although the code is generally limited to Valve licensees, partners, and employees, the code was in the control of various fans. This Tuesday it was reported that one of those people leaked the code more massively, because it was removed from a Discord group.

On the other hand, Counter Strike: Global Offensive is regularly updated, but that does not happen with Team Fortress 2. That is why various individuals decided to download their own servers, as the leak caused concern about the security of their infrastructure.
