A moment of reflection and analysis was lived this Wednesday in the morning Welcome, to which the intensive care physician was invited Glenn Hernandez, who spoke of the critical situation in hospitals due to the pandemic and the peak of the so-called second wave.
Hernández spoke of the difficult situations that health officials are currently experiencing, hinting that something similar to a war is currently being experienced.
“We are like the division of a besieged army, where decrees come to us that we have to apply coverage and we don’t have the resources for that. We are all going to the sacrifice zone, especially the most vulnerable personnel like the Tens, the nurses. In other words, let’s level the field, let’s transform this into a real battle, “he said.
“Now, when a Chilean is dying every 15 minutes, now they can say pandemic fatigue, psychological damage, that it was important for children to see their peers. All of that is true, but there is no perfect world here. Here we are in a war, this is indeed a war, it is not the war of the outbreak, this is a real war, where people are dying ”, he added.
Without going any further, the doctor announced that he was with Tomás Vidiella while he was hospitalized because of a serious COVIDD-19 infection.
“It was my turn to see Tomás Vidiella die here, in front of me. I every Chilean who has seen us die is a tremendous pain. The other day a patient that we loved very much passed away, she spent two months with us. We did a minute of silence for her. We all cried and did a minute of silence, “he said.
Likewise, Hernández gave an account of another delicate situation that coronavirus patients experience, because during their entire hospitalization they must be separated from their relatives.
“The Covid patient dies alone and they have to bury him alone, he has funeral restrictions. Humanity, outside of our environment, I have not seen. I feel a deep disappointment in the human handling of all this ”, concluded.
It should be noted that, this Thursday, the Ministry of Health will announce new measures to restrict the mobility of people, with the aim of reducing the circulation of the virus.
