The day of this Wednesday, it was confirmed the first case of the Brazilian variant of covid-19 in the Bío Bío region.

The situation was already being investigated by the Seremi de Salud, in the midst of monitoring patients with PIMS.

In this regard, the Minister of Health, Héctor Muñoz, specified that it is “a case of a Brazilian variant, but that person is under study because she was a traveler and that she came to the province of Arauco “, although moments later the latter was corrected, indicating that the infected person arrived in the province of Bío Bío.

“Obviously, this isolated case is under study. Their close contacts did not give symptoms, they were tested for PCR, they were negative “Muñoz said.

To the above, the highest health authority added that “The person was isolated in a sanitary residence”.

Due to this, the seremi Héctor Muñoz presumes that said variant of the virus would not have managed to spread, because so far no details of any infected person have been delivered, taking into account that all close contacts have already made their quarantine, their respective tests being negative.

Balance

The Bío Bío region reported 627 new cases of covid-19 after a new balance of the Minsal, also reporting 4,950 active cases.

Regarding the occupation of critical beds, Seremi Muñoz, specified that “in the regional public and private health network we have a total of 279 ICU beds and 147 ICU beds, with 8 and 18 available, respectively, which are equivalent to 3% and 12% availability “.

Regarding new cases by commune, the list was led by Los Angeles with 112, followed by Concepción (93), Hualpén (62), Talcahuano (49) and San Pedro de la Paz (40); among others.

Regarding the active cases by commune, Concepción heads the list with 728, seconded by Los Angeles with 558 and Talcahuano with 489; among others.
