The South Prosecutor’s Office reported this Monday that it is investigating the injuries suffered by a cyclist in the middle of a military checkpoint in High Bridge.
The event occurred in the midst of the controversy over the actions of the Carabineros who used pepper spray in the same commune, which left a 4-month-old infant with injuries.
The situation occurred last Sunday in Luis Matte with the Army, when the commune was in weekend quarantine since it is in phase 2 of the Step by Step plan.
As reported with videos on social networks, military would have caused the fall of the cyclist identified as Gonzalo Muñoz, who was left with a notorious wound on his face that caused significant bleeding.
Given this, the South Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation, for which ordered Carabineros review security cameras and register witnesses to determine how the events occurred.
This was stated by the prosecutor Nadia Mondiglio, who stressed that the idea is to establish if the imputation of people can be given in fact.
Cyclist denounced excessive violence
Given what happened, the deputies PC Camila Vallejo and Amaro Labra indicated the presentation of a complaint against those who are responsible of the aggression to the cyclist.
The announcement was made together with Gonzalo Muñoz, who pointed out to the media that “the military man did not find anything better than push me and kick me with my bike“.
He added that although he acknowledges that he was circulating against traffic and without a helmet, “an assault is not justified in such a way, they made a huge injury to my face ”.
Along with this, he accused that the military acted with excessive force from the way they cut him down even though he was already wounded.
Muñoz pointed out that after what happened, he was taken by an individual to a health facility to receive cures, being detained by the police after being searched. However, he had to be taken by uniformed men to another office since had vomiting.
“I have a fracture on the front side of my face, where the wound is ”, he closed.
