After the removal of the piece, which was transferred “for a limited time” to the premises of the Ministry of Cultures and Arts located in Cerrillos, the installation of a fence with bars and welded steel sheets was arranged.

Recall that the figure was removed by the Council of National Monuments (CMN), organization that resolved his transfer for the purposes of a restoration, after being the object of constant vandalization during the demonstrations that take place in the place.

The CMN recalled that “together with determining the temporary removal of the sculpture to Baquedano for its restoration due to the risk of falling, it was agreed to carry out diagnostic, protection and reinforcement works on the pedestal or stone base of the monument and the tomb of the unknown soldier” .
Likewise, they assured that the “Technical Secretariat of the CMN was in the field verifying the beginning of these works, which are far from the monument to allow the actions to be safe for the heritage set.
