The shocking letter from Rodrigo Panes after serious consequences for violent robbery: “It hurts and frustrates me”
Last October, the delicate state of greeting of the former television director, Rodrigo Panes, was reported after he was the victim of a violent assault, while working through the Uber application.
The event occurred in the Recoleta commune, where he was intercepted by criminals, who shot him point-blank in the leg to take away his truck, which they managed to steal and later run over him when he fled the scene.
After this, Panes was transferred to the San José Hospital in serious condition, for just in December he was discharged, although he was left with sequelae, where Marcela Bravo, his wife, stated that has 70% disability.
For the same reason, the program Here We Are All was activated to help Panes and his family, for which he held a solidarity raffle, where several famous people were present with contributions.
Eduardo Fuentes, Julio César Rodríguez, Dino Gordillo, Mauricio Flores, Julia Vial, Catalina Edwards, Soledad Onetto, León Murillo, Marcelo Comparini, José Miguel Furnaro, Miguel Acuña, Andrea Hoffman, Rafael Cavada, Angélica Castro and Tonka Tomicic, among others, they participated in the crusade.
Emotional letter
And by way of thanks, Rodrigo Panes, who did not want to go live, because “the exhibition burdens him,” explained his wife, wrote an emotional letter to thank everyone who has helped him in this difficult period.
“I think he wrote it because he feels indebted,” added Marcela. What did the letter say?
“On Friday, October 16, 2020, in a drastic way, my life and that of my family changed, especially my life. I woke up in a reality that I don’t like, a new reality that hurts and frustrates me. My body hurts, it hurts not being able to drop off my daughters at school, it hurts not being able to go out with them, it hurts to be dependent, my disability hurts, the fear of my daughters hurts, it hurts to live like this ”, Panes said.
“It frustrates me a lot not being able to generate resources, it frustrates me to know that criminals are still and will remain free; It frustrates me that I can’t remember thousands of words; It frustrates me in what they made me. Rehabilitation is painfully slow, difficult, and painful. Part of rehabilitation is justice, which may never come, because the State abandons, it does not protect ”, he added in the message that was read in the program hosted by Ángeles Araya.
“The only good thing this assault has left me is the enormous affection, generosity and empathy of long-time friends and thousands of people I do not know who prayed and continue to pray, who have been in one way or another close to me and my family, eternally grateful to all of them ”, the document said.
“On October 16 my heart stopped beating twice, but here I am, trying to go back to being the same person I was. Criminals didn’t beat me and they won’t beat me. Finally, thanks to those who fought to save my life, a thousand times thanks, “he said.
Finally, your partner was moved by hearing the words. “It is strong to hear it, read it. His words reflect what he is experiencing. Rodrigo was dead more than twice and what brought him back were his daughters. I admire their strength ”, declared Marcela.
