Last night a new chapter of “De tú a tú” was issued, led by Martin Cárcamo. On the occasion, the animator traveled to Maitencillo, in the Valparaíso Region, to the home of the beloved actress. Carolina Arregui, who spoke about his history, his career, his loves, his mistakes and his successes.

The actress begins by reminiscing about her childhood story. She grew up with her mother because her father died of a heart attack, months before she was born. Her mom re-coupled when she was around 13 years old. She called her stepfather dad because he was the one who raised her. “He was a beautiful person. I have met few people like my old man. He took care of us all. He was helping my mother. “

Carola tells Martín that she left home at 16: “I wanted to continue my life alone. I challenged myself from a very young age. I went to live in a girls’ pension ”. Martín shows him the photo of the pension. She remembers that “we had to go out to find how to pay for the expenses and there I decided to go around the production companies.” The first thing he did was a liquor commercial. It came as an extra and stayed as the protagonist of the commercial.

At the age of 18, he came to Channel 13, where he met Óscar Rodríguez, the renowned television series director of the time. He says that his character Gloria in “Los Títeres” was very similar to his story. And that’s when his life changed.

His first love

Her relationship with Óscar Rodríguez began in the middle of the filming of the television series “Los Títeres”, and they married a few months later. “I felt a tremendous admiration for Oscar. Maybe I saw it a little dad. He took me in. He was my partner, the father of my children with whom I planned to have a family “ and continues: “Working with him, tremendous honor. Handsome. And very nice person. The years we were together were very happy ”.

She became the director’s mistress, so things were rumored like that they were always going to give her the leading roles, and that’s when she said: “I’m leaving Channel 13. With the pain of my soul. But I’m leaving because I need to work with another director, with other colleagues, with another team of people who believe in my talent ”. And there she went to TVN, which for her as an actress was a “very rough experience because it was getting used to everything from scratch. It was a very powerful cast, where he also starred ”. This was before “Bad Angel” where she returned to work with her husband at the time.

His affair and his exile from the soap operas

“I screwed up at one point in my life. I allowed myself to make a mistake and realize that I was losing the most important thing that I had built in my life, and that I did not want to lose it from any point of view, which was my family. I would never have left Óscar and my family if it had not been for… ”, he indicated.

She did not name Fernando Kliche, her partner in the television series “Marrón Glacé” with whom she had an affair and which caused her to break up with her husband. “This hit is very crazy. Characters are confused with people’s lives, ”he said.

Due to this issue, she reflects that she was removed from the soap operas and her partner was not, which today is unacceptable. At that time he was not questioned. She declares that she lost too much to one game.

“I was a 26-year-old asshole. I had gotten married at 18, I hadn’t had a boyfriend and I was playing pretty, as a heroine in the soap operas. Play with fire, beware that you can burn like a bonzo “, he claimed. Despite everything that happened, he affirms that “I do not regret the things that have happened, because if not today I would not be with Roy, for example, I would not have my family reunited”.

They were difficult moments. “I started making the same pololitos as before. With his head held high, but very humbly and with his pride beaten ”. But she had her children under her eaves and that for her was priceless. She emphasizes that there was mother for the first time full time. She also says that she locked herself in the bathroom to cry so her children wouldn’t see her.

He confesses that yes, he had excesses, but they were exaggerated. “They put a lot of color on it. I remember that I had to stay skinny, I had to always be thin because to be the protagonists they had to be skinny. For that, at that time he was taking amphetamines. I had several friends who were in the same as me “revealed.

A new chance in love

Martín asks her how many times she has fallen in love. Carola responds very sure that twice. Young and old. From Óscar (Rodríguez) and Roy (Sothers). Different loves.

Remember how you met Roy. She was filming “Machos” and was determined to have surgery to lose weight. They had recommended this surgeon so she went to see him. She managed to convince him to operate on her and says it was the worst and best decision. “The best because I met him, but the worst because I had a hard time. Terrible, it is atrocious ”.

In the post-operative period, she asked him to go see her because she couldn’t. And they started talking and he found it very interesting, and he liked that. “There things began to happen very little by little. Me with children, he too. It was already separated but very recent “. He doesn’t quite remember when it all happened, but it was very nice.

He also confesses that he put a stop to the interventions since there was a time when hyaluronic acid was applied. “You shouldn’t abuse surgeries. I find it nice to grow old. Before I understood that on television you had to stay young. Then the roles are not the same. But suddenly seeing the wrinkles and letting yourself live, that life passes through you, it has its charm ”.

Returning to the subject of their relationship, he says that they have been together for 18 years and he was married 5 years ago. Martín asks her: why did you decide to get married, to which she declares: “We realized that the family we had built was a powerful, beautiful, stable family. We realized that we wanted to grow old together, live together, share life together. We wanted to seal our love with a ceremony where all our children were present and agreed. It was something very beautiful ”.

The actress says emphatically that she is in love and that what worries her is that one of the two leaves before, which is very likely “but I’m not escaping from this. I learned. I think I deserve it and because every day I am doing something to feel that what I have today I should be grateful. It’s the best thing that could have happened to me at this point in my life. Today I am happy, I feel happy. I really want to give my best. I think the best thing I can give of myself is love ”.

His heart attack

They move to Carolina’s barbecue area, and she prepares a cocktail for Martín called “Tony Caluga.” They talk about how she deals with being self-taught. She points out that she gets into the characters so much that it’s real to her. Cry for real.

Later, they both remember that she had a heart attack in 2010. “Mine is a disease that was discovered thanks to that heart attack. It’s called Prinzmetal’s Angina. The arteries contract in case of great anguish, of demanding too much, traumatic situations. This disease is treated with medications and try not to undergo stress ”.

Maite Rodriguez

Maite talks about her mother, how she is: “My mother is a very spontaneous person, very emotional, humble of heart, intelligent. She is a fighter, a very good mother. She is a super mom not only of us, her children, but of everything. She is good at caring, protecting ”.

Maite refers to Roy, and says: “He’s a great friend. She is my mother’s partner, and I think she couldn’t have a better man next to her ”.

And of his parents’ relationship, he declares: “My father never spoke ill of my mother. My mom passed her rage, but also with a lot of respect. And when they fought, without us knowing about it, even though we finally did it anyway, it hurt me, but it was our turn. When that stopped happening and they began to talk, it was a great relief and tranquility, an indescribable happiness. And when they began to have a loving relationship, the movie is another. It is one of the things that I am most grateful that has happened in my life, by far ”.
