An earthquake of slight magnitude was registered this Sunday night in the Aysén region of General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo, to the south of Chile.

Specifically, the earthquake was felt at 10:34 p.m., according to the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile.

According to preliminary information provided by the technical body, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.6 and its epicenter was located 57 kilometers southwest of the commune of Puerto Aysén.

On the other hand, the hypocenter was located at a depth of 7.6 kilometers. Onemi reported that on the Mercalli scale the movement was perceived in grade III in the city of Coyhaique.

Likewise, the institution reported that “technical agencies continue to assess damage to people, alteration to basic services or infrastructure as a result of this earthquake.”
