The Metropolitan, Bío Bío, and Valparaíso regions are the ones that show a greater increase in new cases of covid-19, according to what was announced by the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, in this Sunday’s report.
The Metropolitan region registered 1,127 new cases of covid-19 this day, the Bío Bío region 585 and the Valparaíso region 385.
While nine regions their new cases of covid-19 decreased in the last two weeks.
The health authority highlighted the efforts of the communities of the regions of Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Maule, Ñuble, Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes, with the largest decreases.
“We want to recognize the efforts of the inhabitants of these regions who, together with their local authorities and health personnel, have managed to reduce new infections of covid-19 by over 20% after 14 days,” he said.
4,208 new cases of covid-19
In this Sunday’s report, the Ministry of Health reported 4,208 new cases of covid-19. 2,612 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,144 do not present symptoms. In addition, 452 Positive PCR tests were recorded that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with covid-19 in the country reaches 825,625. Of this total, 24,106 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 780,530
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 96 deceased for causes associated with covid-19. The total number of deceased amounts to 20,572 in the country.
1,654 people hospitalized in ICU
To the date, 1,654 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units. Of which 1,422 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 200 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and the diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 53,311 PCR tests were reported, reaching a total of 9,366,844 tests analyzed nationwide to date.
The number of Available Health Residences is 173 with 12,565 places. As of today they have 6,537 users considering all regions of the country.
