The screenwriter Ta-Nehisi Coates confirmed that he was hired by DC Films and Warner Bros. to work on a new Superman installment.

As reported by the Variety portal, the film is in its early stages of development, so details of the cast are still unknown. In fact, the search for an actor to play the title character has yet to begin.

The production will be in charge of Bad Robot Productions of JJ Abrams, same that was behind Lost, and Hannah minghella.

In a statement sent to the media, Coates said that “it is an honor” to have been invited for the production and Abrams, for his part, announced that “there is a new, powerful and moving story of Superman that has not yet been told.”

“I look forward to making a significant contribution to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythical hero,” warned the writer.

Working with superheroes is not new to Coates. He previously worked on the delivery of Marvel comics Captain America Y Black Panther.

This new version of Superman would be a “reboot”, although the return of British actor Henry Cavill to the character is not ruled out.

The actor played the superhero in Iron Man (2013), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and League of Justice (2017).

According Term, the actor would be eager to reprise his role as Superman.
