The Sixth Guarantee Court of Santiago left Yasna Ortega Castillo and Jonathan Cid Duarte subject to the precautionary measure of preventive detention this Tuesday, couple charged by the Public Ministry as perpetrators of the consummated crime of robbery with homicide against a 65-year-old man -ex-spouse of the woman- whose body was found at his home in Central Station on February 18, tied with his feet and with multiple stab wounds in his back.
The subjects were arrested earlier by personnel from OS9 of the Carabineros.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, The 23-year-old woman confessed that she planned the crime of her ex-partner, identified as Rigoberto Droguett López, to steal the 10 percent he had withdrawn from his AFP.
According to the version that the woman gave to the persecuting entity, She was motivated by loot, her addiction to drugs and a series of episodes of violence that she said she suffered from the victim when they lived together.
During the hearing to formalize the charges, the Public Ministry charged that at approximately 11:30 p.m. February 12 the suspects allegedly went to Droguett’s house, located on Hermanos Carrera street, and, once inside the building, They proceeded to attack him and inflicted stab wounds to the back of his chest, injuries that caused his death.
Before fleeing the place, They stole the victim’s cell phone, bank cards and identity card.
“We received the details of the bank movements and we were able to realize that on the date of the weekend of February 13 and 14, when, according to the date of death, the person was already deceased, four money orders had been made at ATMs, purchases in commercial stores -Fashion’s Park and Puma- and also money transfers at Cajas Vecinas; in fact, the balance of the victim’s Rut Account had been completely emptied, where he had around 1 million pesos. At the formalization hearing, the Judge Vania Boutaud ordered the admission of Cid and Ortega to the Santiago Uno Preventive Detention Center and the San Miguel Women’s Penitentiary Center, respectively, considering that the freedom of the accused constitutes a safety hazard society and for the success of the investigation.
