An earthquake of slight magnitude was perceived early this Tuesday in the Maule region and surrounding areas. Specifically, the situation occurred when the clock read 01:25 hours.
According to information from the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile, preliminarily the movement would have had a magnitude of 4.3.
The epicenter of the tremor was calculated at a depth of 30 kilometers and was noticeable by dozens of auditors from Radio who defined it as a “wavy movement with strong underground noise.”
Specifically, the hypocenter was located about 5 kilometers southeast of the town of Constitución, in the coastal area of the Maule region.
So far Onemi has not reported any damage to people, infrastructure or basic services as a result of the earthquake. Nor has it been reported that it meets the conditions to cause a tsunami off the coast of Chile.
