Carlos, a worker in the sector, stated that these events are becoming more frequent, calling for a greater police presence.

Neighbors of Paseo Bulnes said they had called the Carabineros on several occasions because of the annoying noises but, according to them, they were not present.

Captain Cristián Diaz, from the 4th Carabineros Police Station, explained that during the night there are multiple events that require the police presence and, unfortunately, resources are limited.

However, he assured that police personnel went to the place of the party on two occasions, without being arrested: “You have to understand that the needs are multiple and the resources are limited. In this particular case that occurred in Paseo Bulnes, they attended on two occasions to verify the fact and the people, seeing the presence of the Carabineros, quickly dispersed, however, the call here is responsibility. This situation is absolutely avoidable. We should think of our older adults, think of our chronically ill, think of our families and friends ”.

Despite the presence of Municipal Security, the event continued until late at night. In this regard, the Mayor of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri, who recognized that as a municipality they do not have the legal powers, for example, to arrest offenders.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, called for self-care: “We are in a pandemic, we see that we still have active cases in the different communes, in the different regions, we have communes that are still in quarantine, we have communes who are in transition, therefore there are people who have mobility restrictions. It seems to us that it is intolerable that these events continue to occur, knowing what has happened throughout the year in our country “.

The Government, Carabineros and the Municipality of Santiago condemned the actions of the offenders, but no new measures were announced to try to stop this type of event.
