The undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli, condemned tonight the attack and burning of a Carabineros van that he was ambushed by a group of vandals at the intersection of Calle Dardignac and Pío Nono, in the heart of Barrio Bellavista, during a new Friday of riots in downtown Santiago.

“Once again, a minority group of violentists generated disorders in the vicinity of Plaza Italia. Unfortunately, the police were injured and also, as a result of the use of miguelitos, they disabled a police car that was burned by the violent “Galli lamented.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Recoleta and presidential candidate of the Communist Party, Daniel Jadue, used his social networks to condemn the violence.
“I condemn this and any act of violence. We cannot be like them who use violence to repress just social mobilizations. We respect life and fight for democracy to transform Chile. There can be no double readings here!”Jadue wrote in a message on Twitter.
