The socialist Andrés Arauz and the leftist indigenous leader Yaku Pérez They will contest the April 11 ballot in Ecuador, as announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE) based on a quick count of the general votes this Sunday.
Arauz, 36 years old and close to former socialist ruler Rafael Correa (2007-2017), captured 31.50% of valid votes, while Pérez (51) was left with 20.04%, according to the data released by the CNE on radio and television.
Very close to Pérez was the former right-wing banker, Guillermo Lasso, with 19.97%, and whom two exit polls gave as Arauz’s rival in the ballot.

About 13.1 million voters, distributed in almost 40,000 meetings, were summoned for the general elections of Sunday, in which a record of 16 candidates to the presidency participated.
The 137 members of the unicameral National Assembly were also appointed.
The unpopular president Lenín Moreno, who did not run for reelection, will leave power on May 24.
