The search for the Chilean mountaineer Juan Pablo Mohr, disappeared on Mount K2 along with two other hikers, continues its distressing development.

According to El Confidencial, this Sunday work resumed to find the national athlete and his teammates Ali Sadpara and John Snorri.

According to the aforementioned media, Pakistani army aircraft flew over the area where the Chilean’s GPS made contact for the last time, at an altitude of 7,276 meters and at 11:09 (local time) on February 4.

The latest data is not very encouraging, although local authorities believe that the three athletes were able to reach the “bottleneck” of K2, the second highest mountain in the world.

“It is a narrow channel that is located at 8,200 meters and has an inclination between 50 and 60 degrees. The climber must overcome a distance of 100 meters exposed to landslides. In fact, they walk under a roof of ice, “reported the aforementioned media.

In this area, climbers can wait inside the tents for a better time and thus continue with the route. Or, if the weather situation does not improve, go down.

The North Face, brand that sponsors Mohr, detailed that “Extreme cold has led to communication devices freezing, preventing contact with any of them ”, which is why it is unknown what situation the three missing athletes are in.

It is worth mentioning that, a few weeks ago, one of Juan Pablo Mohr’s companions, the Spanish mountaineer Sergi Mingote, died on the same K2 excursion due to a heavy fall suffered. The Hispanic was joined by the Bulgarian Atanas Skatov, whose death was confirmed this Friday.
