The One my issued this Saturday an alert to a possible increase in the flow of the Colorado River and ordered the preventive evacuation in the El Alfalfal sector, in the commune of San José de Maipo.
The evacuation was ordered after a mass removal occurred at the height of the La Vaca estuary, generating a plugging of the Colorado River, a situation that could generate a sudden increase in flow and sediments downstream of this river, according to Sernageomi.
Therefore, the emergency authorities asked the residents of El Alfalfal to evacuate to the sector Lion’s Head,without forgetting the use of masks and the minimum distance of one meter with other people.
Likewise, Onemi on its website reported that constant monitoring of the plugging will be maintained, before which personnel from the Andean Relief Corps, supported by AES Gener personnel, will remain in the sector overnight.
Due to this situation, the Metropolitan Municipality, in coordination with the Onemi Regional Directorate, decided keep Red Alert for the commune of San José de Maipo, by mass removal, which has been in force for a week.
Additionally, the fitting out of shelters will be coordinated in the event of an evacuation process.
