The independent candidate for mayor of Zapallar, Guillermo Marcone, was detained along with 14 other people on Friday night, for not meeting the limit of people allowed in your residence.
Initially, it was thought that it could be a party, similar to the one carried out in the Cachagua sector during the month of December, which generated controversy at the national level. However, it was known from the testimony of Marcone himself, that it was a political meeting.
Carabineros personnel from the Catapilco checkpoint arrived at a private address based on an anonymous complaint, which indicated that in the context of a social meeting there was an excess capacity in a house.
Police officers transferred all those involved to the checkpoint, but by order of the prosecutor on duty instructed the uniformed police to the 14 people will be released with a warning of Article 26 of the Criminal Procedure Code, in a procedure that was explained by the lieutenant of the Catapilco checkpoint, Matías Sagredo.
The Ministry of Health of the Valparaíso region, Francisco Álvarez, confirmed that in addition to the warning, gave a health summary to each of the meeting attendees for non-compliance with the health regulations that correspond to communes in Phase 2.
In turn, the health authority clarified that Marcone, as an organizer of the event, is exposed to a fine of one thousand UTM, equivalent to 50 million pesos. In the case of attendees, this could reach 500 UTM each.
Both the Carabineros and the Ministry of Health strongly criticized the activity, while Francisco Álvarez described it as “incredible” that in the commune of Zapallar keep breaking the law, also exposing itself to the increase in infections in an area that in addition to having many vacationers, has already regressed phase in the Step by Step Plan.
