Unprecedented snowfalls surprise residents of the Cajón del Maipo

The forecasts advanced it, the rains were coming. Of course, not everyone was aware that this could include falling snow in some mountain ranges.

But so it was. As reported by the Municipality of San José de Maipo on Twitter, the phenomenon was registered around noon, along with strong winds, in the “Valle del Yeso” sector.

And although this type of situation is used in the area, it is not something that happens frequently during the summer, less in January, when temperatures are usually high.

Along with this, the municipality recalled that the Preventive Early Warning issued from the National Emergency Office continues.
