This morning, tras the arrival of 1.9 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine from the Sinovac laboratory against the coronavirus, President Sebastián Piñera announced that from next week the mass vaccination process will begin in the country. This, he indicated, is due to the availability of this vaccine and also to the new resolution released yesterday where it was established that CoronaVac can be applied to adults over 60 years of age.

“(This) They allow us to start next week, probably on Wednesday, after having the certificates that accredit the safety of this vaccine,” the president reported. “We will be able to start a mass vaccination process in all regions of the country.”

In addition to this, and so that the entire population is aware of when, according to their priority, their vaccination is due, the Government prepared a calendar with the dates.

“The calendar of this vaccination process will be published on the website of the Government of Chile and the Ministry of Health. We are going to update this calendar and it will be useful and necessary to carry out a process according to what Chileans need ”, he added.

The calendar published today includes only until February 12 and for those over 71 years of age. Details and planning for the rest of the month, indicated, will be announced in the coming days.

According to Piñera, according to this calendar, and due to his age, he would have to be vaccinated, together with the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, “probably the second week of February” with CoronaVac. Specifically, for his 71 years, and for the 72 years of Minister Paris, it would correspond to both of them to be inoculated on Friday 12.

Along these lines, the objective of the calendar, said the president, is for this to be an orderly process, in turn, in order to “not generate new sources of contagion.”

I want to reiterate that all the vaccines that will be provided in Chile are free, voluntary and have a seal that guarantees their safety and efficacy “, Held.

In this sense, he informed, the Minsal will work with the regions so that each one has the necessary vaccines to start this mass vaccination process in a timely manner.

In addition to this, it will provide and support the municipalities with logistical and necessary elements to fulfill this important work, he said.

“At the time of being vaccinated each person will receive a card where it will be clearly established when and where the date of the second dose is,” he explained. In addition to this, other information will be requested, such as the email, so that through the Digital Hospital they can contact the person and remind him of the second dose.
