China reported destroying several packages of Chilean and Australian cherries for containing traces of Covid-19.

The information published by the state media of the Asian giant was collected by the Daily Mail, where it is detailed that the fruits were marketed in the province of Jiangsu, near Shanghai.

“Everything contaminated has been destroyed,” says the British tabloid.

As a result of what was reported in the foreign media, the Association of Fruit Exporters of Chile and the Federation of Fruit Producers of Chile issued a public statement in which they respond to “the alleged detection of Covid, which is causing serious disorders in its normal distribution and commercialization process ”.

In the statement, the union details that the situation “is being permanently monitored and managed by the Asoex Cherry Committee”, which is “implementing a set of actions aimed at mitigating, as soon as possible, this complex situation” .

Thus, they add that “actions in mass media, social networks and opinion leaders” are being implemented through Chinese advertising agencies, aimed at “restoring the trust of consumers and distributors.”

The foregoing, with the purpose of reaffirming “the rigorous sanitary processes, from production to marketing, that govern our cherries.”

“The Cherry Committee will continue together with our distributors and marketers in China, working intensely with the aim of facing the current delicate market situation as soon as possible,” the letter closes.
