With a total of 818 new confirmed covid-19 cases, the Los Lagos Region became the administrative area of the country most affected by the pandemic, even surpassing the Metropolitan Region, which came in second place with 815 confirmed cases, followed by the Bío Bío region with 586 cases.
The situation marks a sad record since the beginning of the pandemic and plunges the region into an even greater health crisis, considering that this morning the Osorno health service confirmed the collapse of the city’s base hospital.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health reported that the region has 3,860 active cases, with 1,950 people currently infected in the province of Llanquihue, 983 in the province of Chiloé, and 872 in the province of Osorno.
At the communal level, Puerto Montt is the city with the most complex situation with 985 active cases; then Osorno with 599 cases; in third place Quellón in Chiloé, with 418 active cases; and 55 in Palena.
