An error in the registration – formalized on Saturday before the Electoral Service (Servel) – would leave out around 200 candidates for councilors of the pact “United for Dignity”, made up of the Christian Democrats, the Progressive Party and the Citizens Party.
As noted, the conglomerate in charge of validating the registrations before the Servel was the Christian Democrats. Due to the situation, during this morning party officials contacted other opposition parties in search of support to request an extension to Servel, according to La Tercera.
However, according to general secretaries of opposition contacted by the media, the situation could only be saved through a reform of the Constitutional Organic Law, which requires a quorum of 4/7 from Parliament.
In this sense, the Christian Democrats communicated this Wednesday morning with the Radical Party and the Party for Democracy, in order to seek support to request the extension, in order to fix the mess.
Likewise, they maintain that it would be an “administrative error” produced by complexities that the platform enabled by Servel would have presented.
