On Thursday afternoon, President Sebastián Piñera launched a new Family Emergency Income (IFE) to benefit vulnerable families that are still affected by the restrictions derived from the pandemic.
According to figures provided by the President, this aid will have two payments, one in January and the other in February, and as a whole it will benefit 3.2 million households, or 7.8 million people.
This IFE has three components
IFE quarantine– Designed for vulnerable families who have been in quarantine for at least four weeks.
The contribution will be $ 100 thousand per person up to a fifth member, after that it begins to decrease.
IFE transition: for residents of communes that have spent at least two weeks in phase two with $ 40 thousand per person, which decreases from the fifth member with a ceiling of ten members per clan.
Preparation or opening of IFE: will benefit inhabitants of communes in phase 3 or 4 of the Step by Step plan with $ 25 thousand per person, also with a limit of ten members.

For the January payment, the situation of the communes will be considered in the Step by Step plan between November 27 and December 31.
For the February deposit, the period between the December 28 and January 31.
“All Chileans have faced times of great adversity. Families have suffered deprivation, separations, anguish, but these sacrifices have not been in vain: we have managed to start the vaccination process, we are recovering lost jobs and our economy is reactivated, ”said Piñera.
Although he acknowledged that the above does not solve all the problems, he did say that Chile “is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel”.
“I want to say it very clearly: we will not leave anyone behind, alone. I am sure that if we all take care of ourselves (…) we will overcome these times of adversity ”, he closed.
