Members of the Cabinet of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, discussed the possibility of removing the president after his supporters’ assault on the Capitol, US media reported Wednesday night.
Discussions focused on the 25th amendment to the United States Constitution, which allows the removal of a president by the vice president and the cabinet if he is considered “incapable of fulfilling the powers and duties of his office.”

While there are only two weeks left in his term, following the attacks on Congress on Wednesday, the influential Washington Post and Democratic lawmakers called for the 25th Amendment to be invoked.
