New contagion with British variant detected in Maule | National

The Ministry of Health reported this Monday the second case of a person infected with the British strain of covid-19, This time being a patient who is in the Maule region and who arrived a week ago from Madrid.

The man is hospitalized after the British variant was detected and as reported by the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, arrived in Chile on December 22 from Madrid.

“We detected a new case of contagion with the British variant. This patient was reported today from the Maule region and arrived in Santiago from Madrid on December 22. He is already hospitalized on a preventive basis, ”said Paris.

Due to this new case, the minister announced that new measures were decreed for the entry of the country, ruling out for the moment the closure of airports.

Starting this Thursday, January 7 at 05:00, all Chileans and foreigners residing in the country must have a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72 hours before boarding the flight to Chile.
