In dialogue with the Mesa Central program of Canal 13, the senator for the Ñuble region, Felipe Harboe (PPD), explained the reasons that led him to announce that he would resign from his post in Congress, opting for a candidacy for the Constitutional Convention .
“What we are at stake in the next constituent convention is not four years like the presidential election, we are at stake for 40 years of Chile. (…) I think I can be useful,” said the legislator.
Regarding the reaction generated by his announcement, the parliamentarian admitted that “in 24 hours I already have two death threats”, stating that “they have already been denounced (…) but it is not the way to relate.”
Along the same lines, the former undersecretary of the Interior between 2006 and 2008 described social networks as an “underworld”, adding that “when I walk the streets, you see affection, good vibes; there can always be a criticism (…) but the networks social networks have become a space not only for relief, bots, threats ”.
On the intimidation that the constituents could receive in the process of drafting the new Constitution, Harboe stressed that “the Government and the Convention will have to create the conditions for it to be deliberated without threats.”
