Preventive prison for a subject who traveled from Santiago to Valdivia to burn down his former partner’s house

The Guarantee Court of Valdivia confirmed the precautionary measure of preventive detention against Nicolás Patricio Varela Jiménez, 31, who is syndicated as the author of a raging fire that affected and destroyed two houses in the capital of the Los Ríos Region.

Arriving, during the night of December 31, the defendant entered the property, and managed to snatch the woman’s keys to her house, however, her ex-partner managed to recover them and expelled Varela from his property.

However, He managed to return to set fire to the property, a fire that completely destroyed the victim’s home and whose spread affected another neighboring house.

The deputy prosecutor of Valdivia, Pierre Neira, confirmed in which the man maintains another previous cause and failed to comply with the precautionary measures of night house arrest.

The Guarantee court, in addition to the most burdensome precautionary measure against Varela, set an investigation period of 100 days.
