The senator Felipe Harboe confirmed that he will resign from the Upper House because he will seek to be a constituent.
“Today is the time to be useful: I want to be a constituent”he said, indicating that he will participate in the election for the Ñuble region (District 19).
Through a statement released by his press office – and citing an interview with El Mercurio – the legislator said he will resign from the Senate “And all the privileges that it entails, to return to the street as a simple citizen and, from there, participate as a candidate for the Constituent Convention (…) ”.
Harboe assured that he has the necessary capacities for the position to which he aspires and that one of his “great efforts will be to enshrine in the Constitution a new catalog of social rights: the right to health, the right to water, to housing, to education ”.
He also explained that he will work “for citizen rights in matters of consumer and security, environment, culture, recognition of our multiculturalism and decentralization, which consolidates a Welfare State that pays off pending tasks with future generations.”
Finally, the parliamentarian called for unity.
“The time has come to understand each other, to communicate and reach agreements through fruitful dialogue. We are playing the next 50 years of Chile and for this, enormous generosity is required to reach agreements ”, he concluded.
