From the birthday fight to the communist rabbit: the most popular memes that 2020 left us | Society

[ad_1]

This year is ending and the counts continue. In the now classic social media memes, there were several that stood out and that, for sure, will not stop joining us for several more months.

With some older than others, this 2020 covid-19 pandemic was marked by tragedy. However, Internet users found the way to laugh in the same way.

There were men who dance in suits holding a coffin, a children’s fight on a birthday, a communist rabbit and, recently, the poster of the Undersecretary of Health Paula Daza with which she recalled that nationals can call the Fono Salud Responde, but that it was criticized for being improvised.

We leave you a selection below:

1. Fight on birthday

In October, the video of two sisters from Brazil who were celebrating a birthday began to circulate and who, in an attempt to blow out the candles, began a heated argument.

It all comes down to one of them celebrating her three years. At the height of the party, the little girl was getting ready to blow, but she did not have the “cunning” of a guest who looked quite bored: her sister.

And it is that this one, quickly, turned them off first. Then, due to his disinterest in the face of scolding and his particular grimaces, he began to go viral.

2. Wey ya

This meme started almost by surprise on social networks. Its origan is in the second season of the hit Netflix series, you.

The protagonist is the American actress Victoria Pedretti, in which she played Love quinn.

The viral image shows her with a complaining face, showing that she is on the verge of collapse due to a situation. Under his face is read “Wey ya”, Mexicanism used to say enough.

And since 2020 was a year in which many of us thought “now, enough please” or “wey now”, it was perfect to use it on different occasions.

3. Communist rabbit

Bugs Bunny, the character from Looney Toones, returned this year but as a “communist rabbit.” Why? Only social networks and their particular Internet users know it.

The animated little monkey appears in a reddened image with the logo of the Communist Party – the hammer and sickle – on one side.

It was used by thousands on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with the phrase “we have.” So, for example, when someone wrote that they had a certain item, this rabbit would appear saying that such an item actually belonged to everyone.

4. Strong dog and weak dog

This meme, which involves a strong dog and a weak dog that has been going viral for several months, is used to compare two generations or historical events. These are the mascots named Kabosu and Balltze, who have inspired dozens of graphic pieces thanks to their expressive faces.

Kabosu would have been adopted in 2008 and his owner, to raise awareness, created an account on Instagram in which he became popular.

Balltze, meanwhile, became known in 2017 on the internet because, according to his master, he loved cheeseburgers.

5. Coffin dance

Earlier this year, men from Ghana went viral for dancing to music while holding a coffin on their shoulders. But social networks did their thing and, from a tradition, they got fun videos memes.

The sequence of these records is simple. In the first place, a person is seen in an extreme situation (usually with wild animals) and, before the worst happens, the video jumps to the group of men who dance with the coffin on top. All this framed with techno style music.

Later it became known that these men are actually called “coffin bearers” and are in high demand in Ghana, as their presence implies that the deceased was a person of rank.

6. The number of the Minsal

Recently, Undersecretary Paula Daza appeared before the media to report that the new British variant of Covid-19 had arrived in Chile. However, in the middle of the conference, he showed a rather improvised poster in which the telephone number of Salud Responde appeared.

The page was handwritten with a pen and fast print. The event quickly generated repercussions and questions on the networks due to the lack of neatness in the face of such a relevant ad.

And by the way, the memes were not long in coming. Some users erased the text and wrote funny sentences on the white space.
