The Aysén Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the arrest of a defendant for the homicide of a 15-year-old adolescent in Coyhaique.

He is the main suspect in the death of Damien Velasquez, who was stabbed on December 25 when he left his home to do some shopping.

According to the information provided after the crime, the minor would have met a man, whom he asked to tie up his dog for fear of being bitten. However, for causes under investigation, the subject would have attacked him with a knife.

Mauro Gutiérrez, head of the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police, specified that the arrest took place in Quiet Port.

After the proceedings carried out by the Homicide Brigade, the man will go to the detention control hearing this Wednesday at 11:00 hours.

The homicide of the young man with a disability mobilized his educational community and those close to him to demand justice and that the person responsible be convicted.
