The national secretary of the Medical College, José Miguel Bernucci, referred to the arrival of the new strain of covid-19, discovered a few days ago in the UK.
It was the Undersecretary of Health, Paula Daza, who reported on Tuesday about the first case of a person infected with the new strain.
The case was detected from a Chilean passenger from Madrid, who was in London and Dubai previously, testing positive for the disease.
Against this, Bernucci opined that “with the current conditions of free transit, andthe appearance of the COVID variant in other countries is expected, such as Chile ”.
The representative of the Medical College added that it must take into consideration what the new reality will be after this situation.
“Science is still learning from the strain, it is known that it has a higher degree of contagiousness, but it is not yet known if this leads to a higher mortality rate ”, he concluded.
