Shooting in Barrio Meiggs: one person is reported injured

A shooting was recorded during hours this Tuesday in the Meiggs neighborhood, on the border of the Santiago and Central Station communes.

The incident occurred at the intersection between Salvador Sanfuentes and San Alfonso, during high-flow hours through the commercial premises that operate in the sector.

According to witnesses to the events, between 6 to 8 shots were registered, injuring one person. A 71-year-old man, who is in the Hospital El Carmen de Maipú, out of life risk.

“According to the preliminary information that we handle, there was a fight between two street vendors of Colombian nationality, this would have been due not because of sales positions, but because of previous quarrels that they had,” declared the commander of the Carabineros, Héctor Canales.

“One of them extracts a weapon, we do not know if fire, adapted, compressed air or artisan. In the middle of this, shots were fired, resulting in a person injured in one of his legs,” he added.
