The Institute of Public Health authorized the request entered by Cenabast, for the import and emergency use of the Chinese vaccine CoronaVac.

In this way, it joins Pfizer-Biontech and almost two million doses should land on national soil by the end of January.

“The application has just been signed. According to the Health Code, Article 99, it is Cenabast who requests the ISP for authorization for emergency use of the Sinovac vaccine,” Valentín Díaz, Cenabast national director, told 24 Hours.

This vaccine is developed by the Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech and uses a chemically inactivated version of SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes covid-19.

In fact, its phase III clinical trials, started in July 2020, ended in October in Brazil.

According to the antecedents, this vaccine could remain stable for three years, if it is properly stored in common refrigerators, and lasts up to 42 days at room temperature below 25 ° C.

Meanwhile, for the effectiveness of CoronaVac, a second dose is necessary 14 days after the first.
