Senda registers a rise from 20% to 25% in positive cases of narcotest

He National Service for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Drug and Alcohol Consumption (Senda), Next to the Municipality of Las Condes carried out operations “Zero tolerance” as part of the control intensification plan. Statistics showed an increase of 20% to 25% in the positivity of the narcotic.

“We have increased from 20% to 25% the number of people who test positive for narcotest in the last three nights. Taking care of ourselves in terms of health, physical integrity, our health and especially our children and adolescents is essential”, said the national director of Senda, Carlos Charme.

Charme mentioned that since April 2019, the date the equipment began operating narcotic, nearly 300,000 health checks have been carried out alcotest and drug tests. Of these, 0.94% have tested positive, while the narcotic they have given a positive 20%.

“Since we launched these end-of-year operations, we have two worrying situations: we have tripled the number of people we have taken off the streets in these days compared to last year,” Charme said.

Also, as part of the plan “Zero tolerance” that operated in the commune of Las Condes, Mayor Joaquín Lavín said: “We have completed 30 sanitary summaries, 13 of them were for parties held yesterday (…) it is necessary to remember that each of these summaries begins with a sum 2.5 million pesos. We also want to express concern about fireworks ”.

The Major of Carabineros de Chile Marcelo Silva explained the procedure that is being carried out in different points throughout the country. These operations will continue to operate during the end of the year festivities.

“These controls consist of Carabineros personnel verifying the documentation of the driver and the vehicle, verifying the health permits to see that they are in order, performing alcotest and drug tests. Similarly, supported by OS-7 personnel, the dog makes a perimeter search of the vehicle in search of any possible drug, “Silva stressed.
