The presidential race is gaining momentum and things are shaking up inside the PPD. The party will hold primaries to define its presidential letter and so far it has three candidates: Heraldo Muñoz, Jorge Tarud and Francisco Vidal.
In this context, the latter decided to suspend his participation in the party’s board of directors as of January 5. The former interior minister explained his reasons and pointed out that it is to fully focus on the campaign.
Meanwhile, Jorge Tarud, valued Vidal’s decision and said that he hopes that the board can give guarantees to all candidates to participate in these elections.
Meanwhile, some within the party are pressing for Heraldo Muñoz to make the same decision as Vidal and to step away from the party’s presidency, but some say that it would not be a good idea, because it is in times of important definitions in the sector.
Until January 5, the candidates have to formally register in these primaries, which will be held on January 31 and where in addition to the militants, they will be able to participate independently.
