Pope Francis delivered his Urbi et Orbi Christmas blessing this Friday from a room inside the Apostolic Palace, where he dedicated words to Chile, asking God to overcome the “recent social tensions.”

May the eternal word of the Father be a source of hope for the American continent, particularly affected by the coronavirus, which has exacerbated the many feelings that oppress it, often aggravated by the consequences of corruption and drug trafficking. May it help overcome the recent social tensions in Chile and put an end to the suffering of the Venezuelan people ”, said the Supreme Pontiff.

In addition, he referred to the covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world in 2020, calling on the union to overcome the health crisis.

“Today, in this time of darkness and uncertainty due to the pandemic, various lights of hope appear, such as the discovery of vaccines, but in order for them to illuminate the whole world, they must be available to all,” said Francisco.

“I ask everyone, responsible for the State, companies, international organizations, promote collaboration and not competition, and seek a solution for everyone, vaccines for everyone, especially for the most vulnerable and needy from all regions of the planet,” he closed.
