Cristián Gutiérrez, left lateral formed in the lower divisions of Colo Colo, was nominated to join the national team of Canada, country where the player was born.
Gutiérrez, who previously defended the Chilean under-20 team, is currently defending the Vancouver Whitecaps, which allowed him to be considered for the North American team.
The left-hander is one of 27 players considered by John Herdman, the Canadian national team’s technical director, for a January camp that will take place in Bradenton, USA.
The roster is mainly made up of off-season players from teams from Canada and the United States, as training will take place outside of the FIFA international calendar.
