The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, delivered a positive balance after the first five inoculated with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine against covid-19 in the country.

They were officials from the Intensive Care Units of the Metropolitan Hospital, formerly the Central Post Office and the San José Hospital.

The authority indicated that the vaccine is the first step and that it will continue tomorrow in the capital and the regions of Magallanes, La Araucanía and Bío Bío.

“We do not want to say or speak of triumphalism or that we are a successful country. In fact we are collaborating with other countries that also need to vaccinate their population and this first stage should not make us forget that the virus will continue to be present “.

Especially because, according to projected, in the first quarter “we will have 5 million people vaccinated and in the first semester we will reach 80% of the population.”

He stressed that the example given by health officials should serve as reinforcement for the rest of the population that is reluctant to participate in the process.

“It is a process that is very meticulous, that takes time, in addition each patient has a national registry, which is in a database (…) and a card is given so that they remember that they have to get a second dose in 21 more days” , he detailed.

Finally, he announced that from January new doses from different laboratories will begin to arrive every week. “They border for the month of January more than 240 thousand doses and for February a much greater sum.”
