10 communes in the Metropolitan region have worsenedin their quality of life in the last 10 years, according to the study carried out by the Chilean Chamber of Construction.

This premise was concluded by the Urban Quality of Life Index (ICVU) 2020, which focused on analyzing the progress of 99 communes with more than 50 thousand inhabitants in Chile.

What communes got worse?

It was reported that the commune that regressed the most was High Bridge that went from a “high” to a “low” index, in a decade.

On the other hand, the communes of Maipú and Hill which fell from “high” to “medium high”.

Finally, Lampa, Pudahuel, Recoleta, Paine, Cerrillos, Talagante and Renca.

Meanwhile, the communes that stood out in advanceThey are San Miguel, Macul, Peñalolén, Central Station, La Cisterna, San Joaquín and Independencia.

It should be noted that the study compares the gaps of, “housing and environment –Which assesses the housing and public space conditions– and the business environment –Which measures the capacity to attract investment from the communes ”, according to Arturo Orellana, director of the ICVU project.

Finally, the study generalized the results and concluded that the population living in the Metropolitan region with a “low level of quality of urban life” increased from 30% in 2011 to 42% today.
