The president of the Medical College, Izkia Siches, described the arrival in Chile of the first shipment of 10,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories.

These will be distributed in three hospitals in the Metropolitan Region where it will be administered, and tomorrow the inoculation will continue in health centers in Biobío, La Araucanía and Magallanes.

“We have asked that this process be somewhat sober and convey to the public that we are starting from a very incipient stage, there are 10,000 doses to reach 5,000 people and the goals are much more important than those.”, Expressed Siches in conversation with Radio Universe, when queried for this milestone.

The top leader of the union insisted that “For no reason these vaccines can mean a relaxation on the part of the citizens, but unfortunately we will have one or two increases in important cases in January or in the fall and that is undoubtedly counterproductive”.

Siches added that as a Medical College they hope that “I hope the government will channel the communication strategy to something that I hope is taken with the seriousness that is required and also not to show off this process”.

Regarding the choice of the first people to receive the vaccine, he added that as a union they would like them to be health officials to “Make progress in regaining people’s trust”.

The Colmed leader explained that as a medical community they hope that some of the vaccines will be approved soon “that require less complex conditions for their transfer and storage.”

“If we can pass approval of Sinovac and AstrazCneca we believe that it will be easier and with Sinovac the agreement exceeds 20 million doses,” he said, clarifying that in both their effectiveness exceeds 90%.

Siches also referred to the tension that the Medical College faces again with the government after it became known that the doctors of Law 19,664 and 15,076 of the hospital and emergency services would not be included in the delivery of the Covid-19 Special Bonus.

“We have made an effort to try to maintain good relations with the government, our union in particular has not participated in the mobilizations so as not to promote crowds, as well as not to affect patients“Said the professional, who assured that the news”it has been a severe blow to the medical community “.

Along these lines, the leader of Colmed maintained that the Executive is sending a “Wrong signal” why “The only unions that get a response seem to be those that paralyze their essential activities”.

“We would expect a government that does not stress us to take mobilization actions and that can resolve this in the spirit of dialogue”He said and added that the above seems “inconceivable in this complex time.”
