This morning the Comunes party presented its template of constituent candidacies for the April 11 election, calling for the organization of the widest majority to be “the most voted list of the opposition to build a force that manages to push deep transformations that assure us of a Constitution of social rights, radically democratic and with popular sovereignty “, according to indicated its president Jorge Ramírez.
“We are very happy to make available the names of colleagues who will come to strengthen a constituent list that we believe should contribute to being the most voted of the opposition along with the colleagues from Chile Digno”, added the helmsman of the Frente Amplio store, who specified that the workforce made up of 22 candidates will be equal.
Among the Commons candidates for the constitutional convention, Emilia Schneider (D10), Constanza Valdés (D7), Doris González (D8), Javiera Toro (D11), Libertad Méndez (D13), Adriana Bastías (D15), Carlos Ruiz (D10) stand out. ), Andrés Hidalgo (D8), Sebastián Aylwin (D14), Víctor Orellana (D12), Matías Gazmuri (D6) and Raúl Devia (D7).
Along with that, Comunes presented its Constituent Pillars, a document with the main guidelines of the party for the debate of the new Constitution. In the text, they state that “the reality in which both our institutions and the mobilized society are found, which erupts in October and makes possible the start of the constitutional discussion” should be taken into account, adding that “we will not limit ourselves to the traditions, but we will bet on effective democratic expansion with all the creativity that is necessary to express the demands for profound changes in the Chilean model ”.
Agreement with Chile Digno
Regarding yesterday’s meeting between the Frente Amplio and Chile Digno to achieve a single list of constituent candidates, the president of Comunes specified that “we show the will of both political forces to reach a constituent agreement that allows us to strengthen a transformative program and build a list open to social leaders and citizen movements ”.
Regarding the possibility of having unique candidacies for the other elections, Ramírez affirmed that “we are working to face the next municipal, regional and constituent government elections with the broadest citizen and political unity.” In this sense, he added that “we believe that together with Chile Digno, the progressive sectors of change and particularly together with the citizens, we must make efforts to build a transformative majority that recovers the institutions to put them at the service of the people and achieve a constitution that guarantees social rights and democratic deepening in the new constitution ”.
