To date, a total of 38 communes in the country exceed 100 active cases. This was revealed by the 79th Epidemiological Report of the Ministry of Health published this afternoon and which released the new figures regarding the coronavirus pandemic. According to the report, the communes of Puerto Montt, Los Angeles and Punta Arenas lead in this index.
If compared with the report of last December 18, Puerto Montt presents a total of 491 active cases, 36 more than the previous time. In this sense, Punta Arenas and Concepción – the two communes that also led this index in the previous report – now both registered a decrease in their active infections, of 11 and 20 cases respectively.
In the case of the communes of Valparaíso, Concón and Viña del Mar, that regressed to the Transition phase the present day, recorded a slight increase in cases compared to the previous report: Valparaíso currently registers 252 assets (32 more cases than in the previous report), Viña del Mar a total of 254 (12 more cases) and Concón 42 (6 more cases)
In the Metropolitan Region, on the other hand, there are 10 communes that have over 100 active cases: Las Condes, Puente Alto, Maipú, La Florida, Santiago, San Bernardo, Pudahuel, Ñuñoa, Renca and Peñalolén. In this sense It should be noted that El Bosque, Lo Barnechea and Estación Central lowered their figures since the previous epidemiological report, and they are no longer within the index of the 100 active cases.
On the other hand, the communes of the country with the highest incidence rate are Tirúa with 1,070.9 (11,019 inhabitants and 118 active cases), Cape Horn with 907.7 (1,983 inhabitants and 18 active cases) and Quilaco with 646.1 (4,179 inhabitants and and 27 active cases).
