The ANFP announced to the Spanish Francis Cagigao, former technical secretary of English Arsenal, as the new National Sports Director, where the main challenge will be the design of a comprehensive policy for the development of the national teams.

Through a statement, the governing body of national football indicated that one of the main functions of Cagigao will be “Advise the Board of Directors of the FFCH on sports matters and establish, together with the different technical bodies of all the categories of La Roja, a new development policy that will last over time.”

“The presence of a National Sports Director is something unprecedented for our football. Having a technical advisor who handles all aspects of selection, tactics, evaluation and sports policies will be very important to establish a line of work and a long-term policy to achieve the success of our teams, which is something we all want ” , said Pablo Milad, president of the Chilean Football Federation.

Meanwhile, the brand new national sports director declared that “it is a great challenge and pride to be able to represent a great country like Chile, which has a great culture and soccer tradition. I want to be able to contribute my knowledge and experience in a work of development and improvement of the current functioning of the Chilean Soccer Federation ”.

Cagigao worked for a long time in the ‘Gunners’, participating in the signings of Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas and even Alexis Sánchez.
