During this day, the municipality of Teno, located in the Maule region, has become the protagonist of two intense outbreaks of Covid-19 in two agricultural companies in the sector, leaving a balance of 117 positive cases.
In one of these companies, 103 PCR tests were applied, resulting in 90 workers with positive cases, who “They were already isolated, all of whom were in a health residence,” according to the Maule Health Department.
Regarding this case, the health entity is conducting an epidemiological investigation in the place, and the company in question was left with “Prohibition of operation while the investigation lasts and the possible sanctions are determined”, indicated the secretariat.
Marlenne Durán, highest authority of the entity, highlighted that: “All the positive people are in health residences and the majority are workers from the Ninth Region. This is an outbreak that for now we have controlled, the important thing is to continue testing workers in the sector.
Likewise, a second outbreak was also revealed, in another agricultural company in the Teno commune, which has 27 positive cases.
Last weekend PCR was taken from the workers of this company, “which is large and has packaging (packing or packaging process) “, whereby, “The traceability of the cases has already been done, isolating the positive cases and their close contacts”The Minister of Health warned.
From the Municipality of Teno they manifested “concern” before these two events and they asked the regional authorities for greater control in fields and companies, “To avoid these situations and, above all, to protect the health of our neighbors.”
