He Oral Criminal Court of Arica dictated this monday conviction verdict against a young man 19 years identified as Ricky González Muñoz, who faced trial for having run over and killed, while drunk, a married couple and their daughter.
The tragedy occurred in February of this year and, at the end of the process, González was declared guilty, as Author, of the crimes of Drunk driving resulting in death and failure to stop and assist; as appropriate when there are traffic accidents.
As proven in the process, the event occurred near 11:50 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020, when Ricky González was driving his vehicle at speeding and drunk on Avenida San Martín de Arica.
Upon reaching the vicinity of the intersection with Calle San Marcos, the subject did not yield the right of way and ran over a woman with the initials ACT; her husband, PCR; and their daughter, FCC, who were crossing the avenue duly, through a demarcated pedestrian crossing.
After that, Ricky González got out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but he was followed by witnesses who caught up with him and they held him until the arrival of the Carabineros.
Product of the fact, the woman died at the scene, her spouse died minutes later at the local hospital and the girl did it two days later, February 24.

“The evidence we gave allowed to prove the facts of the accusation and obtain a conviction against the accused … It is a terrible and unfortunate event, which cost the life of an entire family“commented the prosecutor in the case, Érika Romero.
The sentence against Ricky González Muñoz will be announced on Saturday, December 26.
