According to the latest epidemiological report from the Ministry of Health, as of December 17 there were 3,944 active cases in the region. Meanwhile, as of December 10, that figure was 3,142. That is, from the beginning of phase 2 active cases rose 25.5%.
The result is not surprising, since active cases have only risen since mid-November and are now on the verge of 4 thousand.

Among the 52 communes of the Metropolitan region, in 42 of them, infections have increased, that is, 80.7%.
The largest increase occurs in Maipú, where from 170 active cases on December 10, they went to 259 on December 17, that is, 89 more people. This translates into an incidence rate of 44.8 active infected per 100,000 inhabitants.
Another commune that had an important advance was the commune of Barnechea, which went from 40 active cases to 107. Here the cases rose by 67 more, that is, they more than doubled.
The commune of PudahuelMeanwhile, it is also worrying since it had an increase of 60 cases since phase 2 began. As of December 17, it had 162 active cases.

Last week, the minister Enrique Paris has already ruled out that the entire Metropolitan region regress to the Quarantine stage, but added that this yes it could be given in some communes.
“Regarding phase 1… if we make a change to phase 1 (…) I don’t think it will be a change for the entire Metropolitan region. If so, some commune, but not the whole region (Metropolitan) ”, he declared.
